This work is the result of the project called " Desarrollo fronterizo Ecuador " Colombia: Provincia del Carchi " Departamento de Nariño; periodo de análisis 2017- 2019", the objective of the research was to determine if there is any relationship between the exchange rate and the expense evaded during 2018. The research is descriptive, correlational with a quantitative, non-experimental approach, with a sample of 150 households participating in Tulcán. The results indicate that the most representative money leakage to Ipiales is reflected in footwear (46.89%), white goods 43.64%, gray line represents 48.65% and brown line reached 48.01 %. In addition, the relationship between the study variables must be analyzed from three temporal scenarios, the behavior of the evaded expenditure corresponds to a cyclic process, the first four-month period indicates that the correlation coefficient is 0.901; later the relation in the second period is almost perfect (0.992); and in the last four-month period, the relationship between the variables was moderate (0.660).
