Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze the relationship between financial education and the profile and behavior of Fintech users, identifying generational gaps in access, use, and adoption of digital financial products in the province of Carchi. The research focused on generational cohorts born between 1946 and 2012. The work was developed using a quantitative approach and an exploratory, descriptive, and correlational design. The information was obtained through a structured survey of 33 items, applied to a stratified sample of 2,021 people residing in the province of Carchi, incorporating sociodemographic variables such as age, gender, and geographical location. Data analysis was performed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques aimed at recognizing patterns, establishing associations, and verifying significant differences between the study variables, ensuring correspondence between the proposed objectives and the methodological procedures employed. The results show general contrasts in financial literacy levels and Fintech user behavior according to generation. Generation X has higher financial literacy but maintains limited adoption of Fintech products, especially in investment and digital banking. Millennials, on the other hand, show higher levels of indebtedness, linked to insufficient financial preparation. Generations Z and Alpha have wider gaps in basic financial knowledge but show greater openness to the use of digital platforms. These findings highlight the need to strengthen financial education from an early age, through strategies differentiated by generation, which contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable Fintech ecosystem in the province of Carchi.
