Evaluation of the institutional management system of a higher technological institute of Ecuador, 2024

Abstract

The Evaluation study of the Institutional Management System of a Higher Technological Institute of Ecuador, june 2024 was carried out with the objective of measuring the degree of compliance and efficiency of the institutional management of the IST with respect to: (1) Management and planning strategic, (2) Management of organizational functioning, (3) Management of processes and products, (4) Management of resources and (5) Management of university social responsibility; through the design and application of a methodological tool called “SISGESTIES” (Management System for Higher Education Institutions), reliable, dynamic and results-oriented that allows decision-making by the educational actors of the IST in order to improve the quality of higher education services. To collect information, an anonymized web form was designed with an access link aimed at directors, administrators, teachers and students of the IST during the month of June 2024; There was an effective participation of 207 participants out of a total of 359 that make up the IST. The SISGESTIES Evaluation of the IST of Ecuador reached a global average rating of 73.33% effectiveness, three percentage points more than the minimum of 70.00%. The study provides a series of conclusions and suggestions that can be adopted by the IST in order to improve each of the five components of institutional management and be a model replicated for other HEIs in the country. It is important that once corrective actions have been carried out, the efficiency of IST management is measured again in one or two years.
