Abstract

In agricultural enterprises, quality assurance is essential to optimize production efficiency and ensure competitiveness in demanding markets, particularly in contexts characterized by empirical and non-standardized management practices. The present study aimed to propose a management model based on the ISO 9001:2015 standard, oriented toward optimizing the processes of Agropecuaria Troya S.A., located in Tulcán, Carchi province. A mixed-method approach was applied, which included a comprehensive diagnosis using cause-and-effect analysis, problem tree methodology, surveys, and interviews. The results revealed that the organization complies with 66% of the standard’s requirements, with notable deficiencies in areas such as planning (40%) and support (57%). The main weaknesses identified were empirical management practices, lack of standardized operational procedures, absence of a clear quality policy, and insufficient staff training. The proposed model is structured according to the Deming cycle, incorporating specific actions such as defining the mission, vision, and quality objectives, as well as process standardization, continuous staff training, and periodic internal audits. This model will enable resource optimization, ensure continuous improvement, and strengthen the company’s competitiveness within the agricultural sector. In conclusion, the implementation of the proposed QMS will help optimize resources, enhance organizational performance, meet customer requirements, and position Agropecuaria Troya S.A. as a regional benchmark in quality management within the agricultural industry.
