Sustainable development on the sacred route trail - Gorki Campuzano - Cotacachi Cayapas Ecological Reserve

At present the tourist activity develops in the environmental, social, cultural and landscape conservation. Ecuador has become a tourist destination for those who like nature tourism, due to its geographical location; allowing to develop several activities in this modality, among them hiking, which complies exactly with a series of guidelines that generate less damage and respect towards the natural environment. The objective of this investigation was general proposals for improvements in the different actions regarding the administration of the load capacity of the path by the Ministry of Environment and tourism management by the Ministry of Tourism. The case study focuses on the “Gorki Campuzano” trail located in the Cotacachi - Cayapas Ecological Reserve (RECC), where the beauty of its geography, relief, landscape, fused with the customs, traditions and culture of the neighboring communities. To contribute to the proper management strategies were established to protect the path of the human being itself, creating inputs for education, awareness and sustainable use of natural areas that prevent or mitigate the risk of fires, exploitation of resources, destruction of flora, the compaction, wear and degradation of both the path and the natural environment.
